Shrewsbury, Massachusetts • Summer 2025
From the very first phone call, we knew this project was going to be special. The homeowner shared something that immediately resonated with us: he had dreamed of owning a water feature his entire life.
Growing up in California, his father had built a water feature in their backyard—though it was far from beautiful. But that imperfect pond planted a seed. Ever since then, he envisioned what the right water feature could look like.
For years, he followed The Pond Guy of Aquascape on YouTube, as well as our own social media. He studied the fundamentals. He learned about filtration. He developed a clear vision of exactly what he wanted.
When he visited the home of Tim Cutroni, co-owner of New England Aquatic Landscaping, and saw Tim's own pond in person, he knew he had found the right team to finally make his lifelong dream a reality.
Shortly after that visit, he met with both Shawn and Tim on site. Together, they did something that made the dream feel suddenly, tangibly real: they sketched the outline of his future water feature using a rope—right in the center island of his driveway.
It was a bold vision. And the excitement was palpable.
Within weeks, our crew was there, carefully removing his wife's rhododendrons and preparing the space for something extraordinary.

This wasn't going to be an ordinary backyard pond. This was going to be a living work of art—the culmination of decades of dreaming, researching, and waiting for the right moment.
The sound of water was central to this vision. With over 45 feet of waterfalls spilling from multiple directions into the pond, the result is a symphony of natural sound that fills the entire space.
Each waterfall was carefully placed and tuned—not just for visual drama, but for the perfect blend of sound that would transform this driveway island into a true sanctuary.
As the sun sets, this pond transforms. The fire feature brings warmth, movement, and an almost magical quality to the space—flames dancing alongside flowing water, reflected in the pond below.
It's the kind of feature that makes you want to stay outside just a little longer, watching the interplay of fire and water as the evening unfolds.
Because the homeowner had done his homework, he understood the importance of proper filtration. The constructed wetland we incorporated provides powerful natural filtration that will ensure gin-clear water quality for years to come.
This isn't just a pond—it's a complete ecosystem, designed to stay healthy and crystal clear with minimal intervention.
What began as a lifelong dream became a centerpiece of their home and family life—blending sound, movement, fire, plants, and natural filtration into a living work of art.
At first, his wife wasn't convinced. She thought of it as a frivolous purchase—nice in theory, but was it really worth it? But once the final stones were set, the plants rooted in, and the waterfalls came alive, her perspective changed completely. Today, she is the pond's biggest fan—thrilled to have a water feature she can call her own.
