Building a pond in Essex County conditions
Massachusetts gives us hard freeze and thaw cycles, wet springs, and plenty of ledge and glacial till under the topsoil. A feature built for Essex County has to hold its grade through frost heave, move water fast enough to stay clear in July, and keep a safe overwintering depth for fish. That is why we excavate, set stone, and size plumbing around the site instead of dropping in a kit.
