What the service includes
Full drain and fish handling
We drain the feature completely and move fish to an aerated holding tank so they are safe while we work. Nothing about the system stays hidden under water.
Complete surface cleaning
Every rock, gravel bed, and liner surface gets cleaned properly. We rinse rather than strip, so the biology you already have survives the reset.
Equipment inspection
Pump, skimmer, biofalls, plumbing, valves, autofill, and lighting all get inspected and tested. We tell you what is working, what is failing, and what was never right.
Construction assessment
With the liner exposed we can see how the pond was actually built: liner condition, seams, rock work, edge treatment, depth, and whether the filtration was ever sized correctly.
Leak detection
If the feature is losing water, a drained pond is the only reliable place to find it. We check seams, connections, and structural surfaces, and repair on the spot where we can.
Written plan and priorities
You finish the visit with a clear picture of your system and a specific list of what to fix now, what can wait, and what it will cost.

2. Drain and clean day
One visit for most residential features. Fish come out, the pond is drained and cleaned, and every component gets inspected while the system is empty.
3. Diagnosis on site
We walk you through what we found while you can still see it: liner condition, plumbing, filtration sizing, and the actual cause of any water loss or clarity problem.
4. Refill, startup, and plan
Dechlorinated refill, beneficial bacteria startup, fish back in, and a written plan covering repairs, upgrades, and ongoing care options.

Losing water? Start here
Evaporation accounts for roughly 1 to 2 inches per week during the active season. Consistent loss beyond that means water is going somewhere, and a drained pond is the only place to find it reliably. Our Exploratory Drain and Clean includes leak detection, and most sources get repaired during the same visit. Larger structural work moves over to repairs and renovation.
What happens after the report
Some ponds need nothing but a regular cleaning schedule, and we say so. Others need a pump sized correctly, a skimmer that was never installed, filtration that actually matches the water volume, or a rebuild of failing rock work and edges.
Once you know what you have, the next step is usually a seasonal maintenance membership to keep it stable, or a repair and renovation plan to bring it up to where it should have been built in the first place.

Will my fish be safe?
Yes. Fish move into an aerated holding tank with their own pond water for the duration of the work, then go back after a dechlorinated refill. We check them for health issues while they are in the tank, which is often the first honest look an inherited pond gets.
Do I have to commit to repairs afterward?
No. The service stands on its own. You get the cleaning, the diagnosis, and the written plan, and you decide what to do with it and when.
