Pond Cleaning and Maintenance Contractor in Rhode Island
New England Aquatic Landscaping provides pond cleanouts, monthly maintenance, and seasonal care for homeowners throughout Rhode Island. Our crew travels from Cherry Valley and books Rhode Island work in blocks. The key local factor is Narragansett Bay: wind and salt exposure near the water change how fast plants and pond edges wear.

Maintenance That Protects the Ecosystem
Our approach keeps alive the bacteria and plants that do the filtering. During a spring cleanout we relocate your fish to a holding tank of their own water, drain the pond, and clear out the sediment. Rocks and gravel get power washed rather than scrubbed sterile.
We rinse the filter media, test the pump, inspect plumbing connections, and divide plants that have outgrown their pockets. The pond is refilled with dechlorinated water, and the fish are acclimated before release. Between cleanouts, monthly plans keep skimmers, filters, and plants in order.
Bay Winds, Milder Winters, and Hard Freezes
Rhode Island winters are milder than central Massachusetts, yet hard freezes still happen, and a pond that ices over without circulation can trap gases under the surface. Shoreline yards take wind and salt that brown plant edges and evaporate water faster in summer.
Soils here run sandy to loamy, which drains well but can let rock and gravel shift around a liner edge. In Greater Providence, smaller urban lots make access for hoses and holding tanks something we plan before the truck arrives.
What Rhode Island Pond Care Costs
A spring cleanout runs roughly $1,300 to $2,500 for small ponds, roughly $2,500 to $5,000 for most backyard ponds, and $5,000 and up for advanced work. By size, a pond up to 340 sq ft runs about $2,767 to $6,544 depending on Standard, Premium, or VIP level.
Monthly service plans run roughly $460 to $609 per month for Premium and roughly $710 to $859 per month for VIP Stress Free, which includes visits every two weeks. Pond size, fish load, and how much debris falls in are the biggest factors in where you land.
How We Schedule the State
Start with a free phone call. We then set an on-site Discovery Meeting where Shawn reviews the pond, filtration, and fish, and gives you final pricing. Once you approve, your cleanout or plan is added to the next Rhode Island block.
Grouping visits by region lets the crew handle several properties in one trip and come back on a reliable rhythm for monthly service, fall netting, and winter prep. It keeps the calendar predictable for you and for us, and it means the same crew sees your pond each time.

Frequently asked questions
Which Rhode Island towns do you service?
We regularly schedule work in Greater Providence and around Narragansett Bay, including Barrington, Bristol, Cranston, Cumberland, Lincoln, Providence, East Greenwich, Warwick, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Westerly, and Newport. If your town is not listed, call anyway. We plan routes in blocks and can often fit nearby properties into a scheduled trip.
How does salt air affect a backyard pond?
Salt spray carried by wind can burn the leaves of tender pond plants and leave a crust on rocks near the waterline. It rarely affects water quality unless the pond sits very close to the shore. We favor hardy plants for exposed yards and trim damaged growth during maintenance visits.
What happens to my fish over winter?
With 2 ft of depth and gentle circulation, fish rest near the bottom through winter. We adjust the pump and keep an opening in the ice so gases can escape. Feeding stops in fall and does not resume until the water stays at a consistent 55°F in spring.
Do you offer one-time cleanouts or only plans?
Both. Many owners book a single spring cleanout each year and handle light upkeep themselves. Others choose a monthly Premium plan or the VIP Stress Free plan for regular visits. You can start with a cleanout and decide on a plan after seeing how the pond performs.
