Pond Cleaning and Maintenance in Windham, New Hampshire
We clean and maintain backyard ponds in Windham, from spring cleanouts to monthly service plans. Windham winters are long and the frost runs deep in Rockingham County, so the spring cleanout is the visit that matters most: it clears a season of leaves and muck before warming water turns that debris into algae.

What a Spring Cleanout Looks Like
Your fish come out first and go into a holding tank filled with their own pond water. Then the pond is drained and the crew removes muck, leaves, and debris from the bottom.
Rocks and gravel get power washed, but not sterilized, so the beneficial bacteria that keep the water clear survive. Filters are cleaned, the pump and plumbing are checked, and plants are divided and repotted. The pond is refilled with dechlorinated water and the fish go back in once the temperatures match. While the water is still cold, we add cold water beneficial bacteria to restart the biology.
Ponds in Southern New Hampshire
Windham sits on granite ledge with sandy glacial soils, and winters here run colder and longer than in much of Massachusetts. Deeper frost moves stone and edging, so we watch for shifted rock, sagging liner edges, and waterfall boxes that have settled since last season.
Late ice-out also means a short window between thaw and warm water. We schedule Windham with other New Hampshire visits in blocks, which lets the crew reach Rockingham County ponds during that window instead of fitting them in one at a time.
Cleanout and Service Plan Pricing
Spring cleanouts run roughly $1,300 to $2,500 for small ponds, roughly $2,500 to $5,000 for an average pond, and $5,000 and up for advanced cleanouts. By size, a pond up to 90 square feet runs about $2,264 to $5,409 depending on Standard, Premium, or VIP level, and up to 340 square feet runs about $2,767 to $6,544.
Monthly plans run roughly $460 to $609 per month for Premium and roughly $710 to $859 per month for VIP Stress Free. Muck depth, pond size, and access move the number.
Ongoing Care Through the Season
One cleanout a year works for many ponds. Owners who want the pond handled all season choose a monthly plan. VIP Stress Free visits come every two weeks and cover skimmer and filter care, plant trimming, water checks, and catching small problems before they become leaks.
Fall netting and winter prep are separate seasonal services. Netting keeps leaves out of the water, and winter prep sets the pond up to ride out a New Hampshire freeze. In spring, hold off on feeding fish until the water stays at 55°F.
Why Windham homeowners call us
Windham homeowners call us because a pond that sat under ice all winter needs a crew that knows how to clean it without wiping out the biology that keeps it clear. NEAL has cleaned more than 1,000 ponds across four states, and we bring that same process to every Windham backyard.

Frequently asked questions
When should I book a spring cleanout in Windham?
Book early. New Hampshire ice-out runs later than in Massachusetts, and the best window is after thaw but before the water warms and algae takes off. Because we schedule Windham in blocks with nearby towns, getting on the list in late winter gives you the best chance at an early spring date.
Will cleaning my pond hurt the fish?
We move fish into a holding tank filled with their own pond water, so they are not shocked by new water chemistry. After the refill with dechlorinated water, we match temperatures before reintroducing them. Losses are rare when it is done this way, and we watch the fish closely during the whole visit.
Why not scrub the rocks completely clean?
A sterilized pond loses the bacteria that break down waste and keep the water clear. Power washing removes muck and loose debris while leaving a working layer of bacteria on the stone. That way the pond recovers within days instead of going through weeks of green water after a cleanout.
Do I need fall netting as well?
If trees overhang the pond, netting is worth it. Leaves that sink over winter rot into muck and feed spring algae. Netting in fall keeps most of that out, which makes the next cleanout faster and lighter. It is booked as a separate seasonal service from the spring cleanout.
